Our premium service provides individual and group programmes of psychotherapeutic support for children, young people and adults who have experienced deep-rooted trauma, enabling them to face their fears and break down the barriers to making significant and positive changes to their lives. We also provide full assessment protocols for ASD, ADHD and other potential diagnoses.
Our clinical team has decades of experience, and a track record that proves that trauma and learned responses to trauma are not a life sentence, and that, for many people, full recovery is not just a hope but a reality. We have extensive experience working with children in care with local authorities. We also have personal and lived experiences of military life and operational duty.
We work with clients face-to-face or online, serving the UK. We offer a full service to non-English speakers via an interpreter, including Ukrainian and classic Arabic, Farsi and Pashto, and are experienced in working with people from war-torn countries, whether resettled families, unaccompanied children or adults.
We have many years of experience working with clients of all ages, from 18 months old onwards, with autism, ADHD, and many other diagnoses.
We also hold certification as an ADHD Clinical Services Provider.
At Purple Octopus, we specialise in comprehensive assessment protocols tailored for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and various other potential diagnoses. With a clinical team sharing decades of experience, our team of professionals understand the complexities of neurodevelopmental conditions and their impact on individuals' lives.
Assessments are completed in steps, and include a full clinical and psychosocial assessment; discussion about behaviour and symptoms, a full developmental history, observation of behaviours, and clinical interviews. A robust and thorough assessment takes time. Good practice guidelines from the Royal College of Psychiatrists suggest that for ADHD, assessment and diagnosis will require two or three 1-hr sessions, and that it is important that the process is not rushed; by definition, clients are likely to have experienced difficulties and challenges for a number of years.
In terms of ASD assessments, these are undertaken in accordance with NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) guidelines, by a multidisciplinary team, which includes child and adolescent psychiatrists, paediatricians, psychologists, clinical psychotherapists, and speech and language therapists, all with training and experience in working with autistic children, young people and adults. Again, these are completed in steps; include a full clinical and psychosocial assessment; discussion about behaviour and symptoms, a full developmental history, and culminate with a full and thorough clinical interview, along with an observational assessment with the client (ADI-R and ADOS-2 respectively), which can take a number of hours to complete.
Our ADHD assessments are also undertaken in accordance with the NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) guidelines, by appropriately qualified healthcare professionals, with training and expertise in the diagnosis of ADHD.
We operate with a steadfast dedication to excellence in every aspect of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) assessment, diagnosis and successful management.
Our professional ethos is underpinned by a profound understanding of the complexities surrounding trauma and its enduring effects on mental health. This understanding is not merely theoretical; it is deeply rooted in our team's extensive real-world experience working with diverse populations.
Our approach to providing a successful and manageable

skills and staying attuned to the latest developments in psychological
assessment tools and methodologies. We recognise the importance of thorough
assessment in uncovering the nuances of each individual's experience, ensuring
that no aspect of their trauma is overlooked or underestimated.
